IMPORTANT STUFF: About ONE HUNDRED VOLUME. PEROXIDE

Think of Peroxide (developer) as the FUEL that activates any type of oxidative color to begin working in the hair: lighteners, permanent shades, demi and semi shades begin working when mixed with peroxide. Peroxide, H2O2 decomposes during the coloring process and becomes waater H20, along with free redicals. When this happens, the coloring product stops working in the hair, but free radicals can cause distuption until they are thoroughly rinsed (removed) from the hair.

The salon standard used for most coloring services is twenty volume developer, which is six percent developer. Salon pros also use lower and higher volume developer to accomplish varying color results. Salons in a hurry or atteppting to highly lighten the hair, use higher volumes of developer to create that extra, increased ability to lighten very dark shades of hair.

BE CAREFUL! Many of us can order very nigh volume developer from distributors who cater to wig manufacturers. Peroxide housed in large plastic gallion jugs can explode when opened.. and must never be permitted to come into contact the eyes, the mouth or the skin, as severa burns can develop. Fabric exposed to this high volume of peroxide will bleach almost immediately.

Remember this: ONE HUNDRED VOLUME DEVELOPER is 333 PERCENT PEROXIDE.

STRONG STUFF! NEVER, ever apply this to the scalp! Hundreds of very experienced salon colorists mix 100 volume or 60 volume developer into their powder bleach mixtures when they wish to quickly paint "face framing" white blonde strands near the face.. they often do this when the shampooed and combed through client has her head back at the sink.

The client's face and eyes are covered with a towel, and the experienced colorist then quickly and expertly paints a few blonde strands... working from the forehead back into those hair lengths sourounding the face.

Does this work in only two or three minutes? YES! Does the client feel "nice and blonde"". YES? CAN this RAPID ability to lighten coupled with the very caustic fomula applied cause hair to be very fragile.. and to often break.. one day or one month after this was done? YES!

We all know that when a photographer says "I need ONE VERY WHITE STRAND right at the face... Photoshopping can create this today... But rather than "popping a few super-high lift" strands around the face. using super high volume developer..... It might be

best to consider paying lots of attention to hair at the face frame WHILE we are highlighting the rest of the head.. using a lower volume of develooper. ... assuring that the hair remains in

in better condition. As always, the choice is yours. B
