INGREDIENT Details: Often Overlooked

Updated: Jul 24

Like most of us, I do enjoy the convenience of on-line shopping. HOWEVER,

I never overlook the value of speaking with a product expert when making

decisions. This is particularly true as we work with salon chemicals.

Example: Recent studies link hair thinning and hair loss with the presence of sulfates

in shampoos. And the science behind these claims is valid.... HOWEVER, this information

is less than complete, as there are many different types (grades) of sulfates.. from the

cheapest, chemical sulfates........ to completely natural sulfates which are costly and which

are derived from coconut. .. Most labels will not display the grade of sulfate present in

their product. This is where a manufacturer's expert comes in! The great ones have

incredible salon and brand experience.. and they know how to connect with brand chemists

who can answer your ingredient and product performance questions. So, if someone calls

on your salon, ask them how they might be able to help you.... you just never know.

As a member here, you know that I can help you work through much of this product

ingredient information, so please feel free to reach out at any time. Much confusion

continues to exist with the meaning of words like "natural"," organic". and "vegan",

and clients ARE asking. Detailed information is what they need and what they expect

you to deliver. What we do, at the "top of our game" requires ongoing attainment of

knowledge. A challenge, indeed, but all this keeps things interesting....

..... Product ingredient and product definitions are just two of the topics I will be covering

at my upcoming Immersion Into Hair Color Learning Sessions. These classes, sponsored

by Artego.USA, are my own vehicle for reaching career colorists with important,

necessary support, and ARE NOT brand advertisements. They are of great

benefit regardless of the brands salons are using, and in class, we use several

brands of salon hair color, including Beauty Fusion and It's Color. Attendees can

apply color to "live models' working with me. Color chemistry, technique, trend, formulation and business building concepts make up the session curriculum.

..I'm delighted to be traveling during August and September of this year. ... First to

West Palm Beach, for class on Monday, August 19th. For details and for your ticket you

can contact Michael Mahon, there in Palm Beach at 561-818-9072. Tickets are also

available when you call Artego.USA at 800-247-1660.

On September 29th, I'll be at the DoubleTree Inn .. Annapolis, Md. 10AM - 5 PM, sharing

another Immersion into Hair Color Session. Colorists who are new to our business as well

as those who are more seasoned professionals will feel comfortable and will be able to

learn new and important hair color information. For tickets, call 800-247-1660, or speak

with Annie Beecher at 515-822-5205.
