AVOID COLOR CONFUSION

While many salon pros now enjoy using non-ammonia permanent hair color, let's avoid confusion. Permanent hair color requires an alkalizing ingredient so that it can
effectively penetrate into the hair's cortex, where it is able to rearrange (lighten)
natural pigment from the hair as it deposits new level and tone.
So like traditional, ammonia-bearing color, non-ammonia color
contains an alkalizing ingredient; often MEA, also known as ethanolamine.
A few clients are sensitive to ammonia. Others are sensitive to MEA or to PPD,
PTD, or perhaps to product fragrance ingredients Testing from a dermatologist, is way a the precise way that your client can lean about an ingredient to which she or he may be sensitive or allergic.
CONFUSION with this and with the terms "natural" and "organic" can lead customers to
believe that hair color being applied to them is 100% non-chemical and natural. To my
knowledge the ONLY 100% organic, natural hair color is organic henna.. which stains the
hair and develops to one shade: RED! MY ADVICE: When considering purchase of
a "natural" hair color brand, ask your sales representative for the company's ingredient
list. Remember that clients have access to product listings right now. So be informed.
See for yourself, and evaluate before advertising an "all natural' color service.
Chemists tell us that many brands DO contain natural ingredients, but, when a product
can lighten the hair, effectively remain "permanent", and cover gray, a synthetic chemical is at least a part of the ingredients. b. PS: Schedule a class with me!
