AVOID "UNEVEN" Color Results.. It's Easy!

We have all seen hair color that looks lighter and brighter near the scalp, but, closer to the

ends of the hair lengths, the color looks darker or cooleer than attractive... it's NOT the target

shade we had expected.

CONSIDER: Hair firber integrity changes as the hair grows away from the scalp. After time,

no matter how careful a person is, the hair lengths become abraided.... over TIME, they have

been brushed, combed, exposed to all kinds of water, shampoos, styling products ultra-violet light, and its been blown around in the wind... And the longer the hair is, the more

fragile those hair lengths can become. Even when the hair has never been lightened, colored, or exposed to chemical texturizing.

SO......... This hair area, (Zone Three), must be considered as being a different fiber. When formulating for long hair, always consider that the long areas of the hair lengths will

almsot ALWAYS "develop" darker and or cooler than you might expect.

Example: Your level 4 client with virgin hair wants to be a rich red. If this were my client, I

might conduct a starnd test.. and would probably fee confident using a level 5R permanent color shade at and near the scalp (usualyy about 2 1/2 inches down the hair lengths. Then,

I'd add to my bowl. 1 ounce of a level 6 Red Copper or Copper Red to create the "safety" I

need to continue applying color to those "virgin" (Zone Three), long hair lengths. By doing

so, the results will be "even".. avoiding that dreaded "brownish" or "red-violet" tone that can

develop on these porous hair lengths. Developer? I choose usiing 20 volume. Remember

to process this at room temperature.. 30 - 45 minutes. Take a strand test.. roots to ends after

25 minutes.
