BEGINNINGS: HOW HAIR Synthesizes Under the scalp

Updated: Dec 11, 2024

As hair is manufactured on the head, amino acids arrive in the blood vessels. They are linked together in the hair follicle to form protein chains which take the shape of a spiral

or helix. These are assembled into mirofibers which make up a CORTEX.

The CORTEX is then surrounded by keratin plates, which becomes what we call the

CUTICLE.

On a typical human head, , within the hair follicles, 10 TRILLION amino acids are being converted into hair keratin every second!
