CHANGING PERMANENT HAIR COLOR Into A DEMI-PERMANENT FORMULA

Hair color chemistry continues to fascinate me. I observe new liquids coming on the market. These are designed to be added to your bowl or bottle of permanent hair color formula and

are intended to very measurably decrease the formula's alkalinity... thereby reducing the formula's ability to "lift" transforming the mixture into a "no lift' demi permanent solution.

I note that one company KIN houses the formula called CONTROL in a small bottle which is

packed into an attactive white box. The ingredient listed is citric acid. Certainly, adding an acid to an alkaline formula reduces alkalinity.

I remember years ago, one of our new Vice Presidents at Clairol had joined us from Redken. He recommended adding four to 6 drops of white (clear) vinegar to reduce the

alkalinity of a permanent hair color formula. .. and so it goes...........

Products cost money, so during the current financial concerns facing our nation, you

may find yourself thinking about how to reduce costs. This is simply a suggestion. I continue to adore demi colors.. but, then again, that's just ME!
