ERROR-RESISTANT HAIR LIGHTENING

There are many times when our ability to slightly lighten natural color one level can effectively create great beauty. We call this slight lightening "BREAKING THE BASE"
In the past, salon pros often worried that slightly lightening the hair would also create
unwanted warmth.. the exposed underlying warm pigment in the hair. I'm delighted to
see that Redken, Joico, Wella and Schwartzkopf have all introduced liquid base breaking
products.. These are NOT permanent hair color products. They are controlled bleaching
agents for the hair... VERY CONTROLLED, and designed to remain in contact with the hair for 5 - minutes. Mixed with 20 volume developer.
Redken's is called Blonde Idol Base Breaker. at SalonCentric
Joico's is called Vero K-Pak Base Breaker. at SalonCentric
Wella offers both cool and double cool Base Breaker. At CosmoProf and Armstrong McCall
Schwartzkopf Base Breaker has become a real salon favorite.. At CosmoProf and Armstrong McCall.j
My opinion only: Every colorist should keep at least one piece of a base breaker in their
salon dispensary. Soft, controlled lift with "brass control" is often all we need to create
real beauty. Beth
What would be the difference in using the base breaker vs highlight permanent color? I though Swartzkopf used to teach using highlift shade of permanent color like 12A/12V for 5-7 min and then a no lift toner to base break. Would this technique work?
