NOTES ON HAIR STRUCTURE

KERATIN Protein makes up the hair strand, which is formed in the hair follicle. Hair is

given strength from the disulfide bonds found in the cortex. These bonds are covalent

and cannot be broken down by water. They CAN be broken via application of high

heat, and from products with a high (alkaline) Ph. or

by excessive exposure to sun, rough hair combing or brushing, or prolonged tension

(tight pulling) of the hair. Perms, relaxers, permanent hair color, hair lighteners and some

volumizing shampoos have a high ph. These treatments must be neutralized via application

of a hair conditioner which lowers the ph and closes the cuticle.. but the real DAMAGE to the

hair takes place deep inside the cortex.

Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate is a single molecule which can repair broken bonds.

A measure of 68% hair repair and 3X stronger hair are reported to take effect when two

Perfector. No 0 is an intense treatment that boosts the efficacy of No 3. No 3 is a pre-shampoo treatmentwhich strengthens and repairs hair from the inside out. And, after

inside the hair.

Remember that these in-salon treatments do wonders.. but are not "FOREVER". To maintain

hair strength and condition, salons professionals should recommend that clients purchase

the "at home" hair strengtheners offered by Olaplex, so that damaged hair can maintain
