Who is Your "AUDIENCE"?

Aside from creating beautiful hair, salon professionals also serve as therapists and entertainers. If you see 12 people per day, you meet with 12 different "audiences".
The most successful hairdressers are those who DO NOT "treat everyone the same". They
treat each client as an individual, and quickly acquaint themselves with the topics that might interest that particular customer. Listening to what a client likes to read, to watch on
TV or to do athletically or socially, helps us taylor our conversation with them. AND we should understand the audience our clients play to. Part of our job is to help the client feel confident that those they hope to engage in their lives approve of or at least understand how they choose to appear.
Examples: Some people "play" to those in their place of work. Others "play" the part of mother and wife. Still others play to their social group(s) or to their church. ...
As Shakespeare said, "We are all players.. and the world is our stage". While it does
take a bit of effort and a desire to listen carefully, helping clients enjoy their salon
visit; feeling that they hold a special place in our lives; and that the look you
create them supports the "stage" they play on.... Can make a huge difference in client
retention and long-term relationships. I look forward to seeing you in class! B
