ROBERT OPPENHEIM: A Life Well-Lived

Robert Oppenheim, former President of Clairol's Professional Products Division passed

away earlier this week. He devoted his professional life to the betterment of the salon industry, and extended support and friendship to salon colorists everywhere.


Mr. Oppenheim was a true and demanding manager, a mentor and a charismatic leader who expected his staff to embrace the beauty business as he did.


Even though our division at Clairol was rather small, compared with the massive

size of the Consumer Products Division, RO, believed that Clairol could make a profound

impact by reaching salons with very clear educational charts, booklets, newsletters and in-depth seminars. His team of Hair Color Consultants visited their assigned salons regularly;

offering free samples, short FYI tutorials, and answering color questions. Those relationships

were treasured, and they made a difference.


Mr. Oppenheim embraced the salon industry throughout his long and productive life. We remember him, and his loving family: Wife, Ruth, Children, David, Nancy and Howard, and many grandchildren. B
