AVOIDING "REGRET".

of course it is possible to lighten brown hair to blonde. HOWEVER! When the

hair has been dyed brown, black, violet or red.... beware of what lurks beneath as

the hair may be extremely stained with color.. inside and out. Avoid regret; by

conducting a strand test. Wrap several strands in lightener, and observe after 20 minutes.

If the hair has held on to too much depth. adjust your expectations.

I wonder if you might comment on your best approach to blonding a client. I have a client that is a natural level 6/7 and we have been deepening her for over a year with Shades Creme. she now wants to go back closer to her own color. I told her we couldn't do it in one visit, but curious how others would handle this transition.

Thank you for asking. OK . Let’s take her back to her natural level6 or 7. gENTLY. Step one. I like to first shampoo the hair with a chelating cleanser that ‘gently lifts’ that current shade a bit. The LOreal Metal Detox Shampoo or Malibu No More Goo shampoo work very well. Dry the hair. Now, let’s see if any of that Shades Creme lifted. If so, it is best to mix powder lightener with 10 developer. Highlight the hair. Weaving the selected strands, and place them close together. After wrapping the last section, open foil to see how much lift of that level4 shade has resulted. Don’t worry if the hair looks red or orange! The hair …
