Following Manufacturer's Instructions... (almost all of the time)

I share this important color tidbit with you.. with a bit of trepidation! Why? Because in this

instqnce, I am not following manufacturer instructions. HOWEVER, doing this one thing has

brought me wonderful hair color salon success.

WELLA COLOR TOUCH. I use this wonderful brand, which is a creme, slightly alkaline demi-permanent hair color which deposits, matches or deepens color when no "lift" (lightening) of the hair is desired. NOTE: I mix Color Touch ONLY with the dedicated 1.9

percent Color Touch Color Processing Solution. AND... I do not follow manufacturer's instructions because do not double the amount of developer.. I mix equal parts of Color Touch and its developer.

TO COVER GRAY PERFECTLY: I choose a Color Touch formula using shades ranging from

level 8 and deeper. Again, I mix the color with EQUAL PARTS of Color Touch Developer.

1.9 percent. I apply to the hair taking fine even sections, assuring that all the hair is covered

with color formula. After covering the hair with plastic, I place the client under a pre-heated

source for 20 minutes. Then, after seating the client away from heat, I continue processing the color at room temperature for an additional 20 minutes before rinsing, shampooing and

conditioning.

FOR FABULOUS LOWLIGHTS: I paint or foil wrap the hair using Wella Color Touch mixed

with the 1.9 percent developer. After wrapping or painting the last section, I process the hair

for 30 minutes at room temperature before rinsing, shampooing and conditioning.

I demonstrate these wonderful techniques in my Immersion Into Hair Color classes. Hundreds of salon pros have taken this info back to their salons and used it with great success. And, I apologize to Wella for doing something I (almost) never do: Not following

manufacturer instructions. Thanks for reading! Beth
