Careful use of the word "Keratin"

Of course modern hair smoothers and chemical relaxers contain KERATIN.. but,

keratin is NOT the chief ingredient responsible for loosening or removiing curl from

the hair.. those "relaxer" ingredients are a far more chemical story........

Let's review: KERATIN is a complex protein. Warm-blooded mammals, including humans,

extrude this particular protein more than other proteins like collagen or elastin. Keratin contains a relatively high amount of cystine, an amino acid made from two sulfur-containing cysteine

molecules. These link to each other via a sulfur to sulfur bond. The higher the number of

sulfur bonds, the stronger the protein formed. This relates very much to how we refer to "hair

strength"....

Keratin forms complex super helical structures twisted, always, in a left-handed direction.

(ALL protein molecules on Earth twist to the left!).... j

So,, as most of us know,l KERATIN is NOT a product that relaxes hair. Keratin exists in nature and is a complex protein. Thx for reading! B
